Clinical Psychologists and Therapists in Training
I offer mindfulness and compassion courses for Clinical Psychologists and Therapists in training.
Much research suggests a positive effect of mindfulness and compassion training on therapist wellbeing. Those in caring professions are vulnerable to burnout and empathic fatigue. A practice of mindfulness, self-compassion, and compassion can help protect against this and help therapists to flourish.
In addition to wellbeing benefits, developing a strong foundation in mindfulness and compassion can support psychologists and therapists to use third-wave approaches in their work, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and mindfulness techniques generally.
For this work, I offer Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness Based-Cognitive Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living.
If you are interested in this approach, please get in touch to discuss these options and how I can tailor these to the needs of your institution.
University staff and student wellbeing
I offer taster sessions, workshops, wellbeing days, and courses for university staff and students. This could be part of an initiative, such as mental health awareness week, or could be linked to other support services within universities, such as counselling services.
University life can be stressful for students, with pressures to succeed academically, financial concerns, difficulties in relationships, and housing issues. Learning mindfulness at this critical time can help to protect against stress, anxiety, and feelings of inferiority or “imposter syndrome”.
Having been through three university degrees myself, I come from a place of understanding this kind of stress from the inside. I was lucky to have a mindfulness practice before embarking on my PhD, which can be a particularly stressful journey, and I am passionate about helping other students to navigate university life without it negatively impacting their mental health.
